Today is Autism Awareness Day. Today I am thankful for my gorgeous pair of Spectrum Sisters. Complete opposite ends of the scale, profound to high functioning, but inextricably tied. From day one the love and understanding between them has melted through the loss of a language to communicate in and they have shown the world that they will not fit into anyone’s generalised view. They brave, beautiful, compassionate, intelligent, inquisitive girls who will forever make me proud. The challenges have at times felt insurmountable, but what always pulled us through was love and spirit. They are amazing both because and in spite of their autism and how it presents in them.
